I love supporting the Major Taylor group. Having lived in the Worcester area – including Worcester itself – for 30+ years, the legacy of bicycling wizard Major Taylor is rather amazing. Every year the Seven Hills Wheelman hold a bicycle race up George Street which is VERY steep, in honor of Major Taylor. In 1899 Major Taylor, a Black man, was a world champion bicyclist! He endured extreme racism and persevered.
Here is one of the bicycle gear cyanotypes I made in honor of Major Taylor for 2025. It is part of the raffle for the Seven Hills Wheelman and Major Taylor organization. Please support local cyclists! Buy raffle tickets!
When: Sunday, July 27th, 2025
Where: George Street, Worcester, Massachusetts
Here’s cyanotype #1 that I have donated!

This cyanotype is sized 8″ x 10″ and is matted out to 11″ x 14″.
This photo of my cyanotype was taken by me. The image is copyright Lisa Shea.
