I love creating interesting textures with my cyanotype painting. Rather than just painting a solid field of the light-reactive chemicals, I mix things up a bit. In this artwork I created a spatter pattern of the chemical on the paper.
I then added bicycle gears, which are favorites of mine. Gears are the magic of our world. I like that in this image the gear images aren’t primary. They’re hidden, nestled into the mists of the cyanotype blue.
This is an 8 inch by 10 inch hand-painted cyanotype sheet of paper, matted out to 11 inch by 14 inch. It is the unique original piece of art. It comes in a protective plastic bag.
