I adore bicycle gears. There’s just something about them that calls to me. Some of my cyanotypes are very clearly about gears and their interactions. But here I go more subtle.
I’ve used a spatter pattern to put the cyanotype liquid onto the paper, so it only partially covers the white of the paper. And then I hide the gears amongst that so the gears peek out.
This is an 8 inch by 10 inch hand-painted cyanotype sheet of paper, matted out to 11 inch by 14 inch. It is the unique original piece of art. It comes in a protective plastic bag.
